ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES

2016 // BLOCK FOR DRAWING (DAN CREȚU & LAURA LEONTE)
Context: In May 2015, a graphical interpretation of the biblical scene of Saint George slaying the dragon becomes news after it is wiped off the wall it occupied only days after its completion.
The reason why the work has been covered was intensely debated being considered an attack to the liberty of expression.
Profoundly involved in the event, artist Dan Crețu conceives the sketchbook "Block for Drawing" and picks CompulsiveDrawer - the community of free drawers - as partner in producing the object. The sketchbook and its blank sheets have the form of the wiped off wall which became a symbol of the freedom of expression. This way the artist using the sketchbook is even more aware of the importance of the artistic act they develop.
