HISTORY
Lana Dumitru is a young Romanian fashion designer who has recently finished her research in London and earned her PhD in Digital Arts and Fashion. She has been named the best young Romanian fashion designer (Forbes Award) and she was included by Forbes in Top 30 under 30 entrepreneurs.

ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES

2018 // Happy Nation 2
Lana Dumitru brings together personal and national memories in a new series of items which takes us from the Brancusi's Modernist Sleeping Muse to the idyllical megalomania of People's House in a winter scenery to the hybrid Capscarf that mixes streetwear and the rural scarf or the Lacramioara Top that fuses the traditional folklore mask and the digital.

2017 // Happy Nation
The new collection deals with the national past and Lana's memories using nostalgia and humour: from the ritualistic masks from the pre-Romanian traditions turned into the digital masks of today- emojis, to the remix of the domestic kitsch of the 80s, from the iconic coat of arms of Ceau?escu's Romanian Socialist Republic mixed with the laughing with tears emoji, treating that political period as the absurd joke that was, to the traditional carpet from a Romanian peasant’s house turned into the comfy climax of a chic overall.

2016 // Sporty Sapanta
Lana’s new collection, Sporty Sapanta, comes with statement items along with a streetwear approach of the Maramures beauty. The Sport Couture collection contains shorts, dresses, long jackets and backpacks, all of them coming in different colors and patterns, with distinctive elements represented by colorful bands and elastics that are specific to the 90s. Sport Couture means to hurry with style wherever your job, love or your lust for fun takes you. Sporty Sapanta is not sportswear, but clothing items for those who appreciate the “rush chic” style of the greatest cities.

2016 // UFO Jacket
How would it have been to be abducted by an blue-lighted UFO in a small village from the Communist Romania in the 60s? The celebrated outsider artist Ionel Talpazan (1955-2015) was so struck by this encounter that he created an entire volume of psychedelic drawings and paintings around the shape of the alien object leading to his recognition in the US art world. Following his fascination, the Romanian designer and artist Lana Dumitru has launched an UFO jacket adorned with Talpazan's UFOs and children drawings of planets, like a proper tribute to his wonderful visions.

2015 // Fresh from the Recycle Bin
Have you sent your feelings to the Trash ? Have you recycled them ?
People nowadays don’t go to Hell anymore, they go to the Recycle Bin.
Freshly recovered from the Bin, this is my deleted collection! Like many others that did not win a contest or did not have the money to be produced and they had to remain in the Virtual Paradise forever and ever playing with the birds and animals from all the pictures sent to Trash by people around the World.

Digitally printed sweatshirts, pants, shirts and skirts emerged and every time I’ve got the chance, a new item will come out of the virtuality.
This is a half virtual- half real collection, like the world we’re living in, you never know what is made in 3D, CAD, or made in reality, the cure for ugliness is Photoshop, desktop icons become fashion icons.
