ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES

2019 // Weave hello
An archetypal object which invites the user to take part in the tracing of its history: the classic three-legged stool is reinterpreted in a DIY contemporary key, while keeping the traditional, timeless motifs. Similar to a wooden belt – made of small intertwining elements which create various patterns like color pixels - the body of the stool is ”woven” between the seat and the base, creating an empty space for storage. When not in use, it becomes a small wooden carpet reminding of Romanian traditional tapestries. Made of local oak wood, this stool carries the purity and nostalgia of the archetype, blending them with a touch of energy and imagination.

2019 // Thinking Chair
A rocking chair which reminds of the rustic Hungarian-style chairs, characterized by rich ornamentation with wood-engraved motifs, attaches an increased importance to the aesthetics in relation to functionality. A piece of furniture situated at the boundary between a sculpture and a functional object, the Thinking Chair is made of massive local oak treated for the outdoors. The object consists of two parts: the seat made of rough wood beams, placed in direct contact with the ground which can accommodate one or two users, and the backrest which adds a note of color and playfulness. A chair tailored for the contemporary outdoor recreational scenarios, while also bringing tribute to folk art and traditional craftsmanship.

2018 // Tree Candle Holder
A modern, refined interpretation of the classical candle holder and a homage to precious materials, Tree Candle Holder is an object with a complex personality: romantic on the outside, sturdy on the interior. A mirror polished brass base holds the” branches” – white marble elements interconnected so as to form a dynamic and architectural structure. The brass holders reflect a warm and elegant light.

A functional object and also a distinct decorative piece, Tree Candle Holder is available in two dimensions.

2018 // Wire Bookshelf
Juxtaposed wire elements create dynamic geometries. Wire Bookshelf is a modular shelving system with a design that’s based on the fluidity of the construction, the ease of installation and the game of perspectives. The visual balance and the transparent structure give the shelves the impression of lightness, making the books and the objects they host look almost suspended.

The shelving system is made of steel wire, with extruded brass insertions – these are key elements responsible for the discreet luxury aesthetics, as well as for the fast assemblage. Without a complicated installation kit, using only the shelves and the brass elements, the user can create his own unique sculpture, taking into account his storage needs and preferences.

2017// Play & Rewind 2.0 @Vienna Design Week // Cakestand
Cake Stand is inspired by the colorful appeal of the sweet treats it displays and it is made entirely out of a solid and non-toxic material. The rounded base and the removable top plate are bound together by colorful discs, a playful component which allows the user to obtain two different heights.

2017 // Play & Rewind 2.0 @Vienna Design Week // Supaplex Bench
The Supaplex Bench is a playful versatile object. It can be used as a three seater bench or transformed into two stools by simply removing the middle wooden board. It is made entirely out of solid oak, natural and colored. It was created for FruFru and built by Ekero.

2017 // Play & Rewind 2.0 @ Vienna Design Week // Evergrind

2017 // Evergrind
A glimpse of childhood memory – the smell of fresh coffee in the house, always ground with the old mother’s grinder, inherited from Germany in the ’30s – resurfaces and becomes the source of inspiration for the first of seven pieces contained in the Evergrind coffee set. A manual ceramic burr grinder in a minimal clean shape is accompanied by four cups, a sugar bowl and a milk jug. Evergrind is an exploration of the coffee ritual addressing multiple senses: the visual, the tactile, the olfactory and eventually, the taste.

2016 // Vertical Garden
The Vertical Garden is a indoor or outdoor wall decoration developed for FruFru. With a painted metal wire frame, each hexagon can hold its’ very own metal flower pot, painted in various colors. The final shape of the object and also the number and colors of the flower pots can be customized.

2016 // Hexic
Hexic is a set of table accessories, with five elements. The solid oak hexagon supports the salt and paper shakers, the toothpicks dispenser – all made from porcelain and also the  napkins holder made from white painted metal. It was initially designed for FruFru.
