HISTORY
Mădălina Teler (born in 1987) qualified from the Bucharest National University of Arts in 2010, with a major in ceramics. After college, she followed a Master in Interior Design at the same university. For Mădălina, ceramics represent a special world, full of new experiments and surprises. At the end of her studies she wanted to use all the knowledge and combine the two majors, ceramics and interior design, so she started the personal project De Ceramică. De Ceramică was launched in 2013 and aims to create hand made minimalistic ceramics with a touch of color.

SPECIFIC
In her work, Mădălina seeks to reflect her fascination with beautiful architectural elements and the passion for ceramics. Starting from somewhere in between observation and participation, she wants to explore and rethink in her work the decorative surroundings. The patterns that she uses are inspired by different architectural elements, such as fences, decorative gratings or barriers. Her work is both functional and decorative and all the materials that she uses are fully non-toxic and food safe.

2014 // Desired Constellation
A random configuration of "stars" that can be joined by the playful imagination of anyone who desires to write or rewrite his own destiny. Why can we not trace other constellations that can express our desires and our hopes? A symbolic gesture to chart our own destiny reflected in the stars.
The sky map was drawn long ago, it has been defined and redefined as our knowledge has expanded. This mapping has its own history, currently being recognized 88 constellations by the International Astronomical Union.

Every culture has developed its own set of constellations based on their mythology. These stellar figures, imaginary outlined, assumed from the start a connection with the human destiny, in particular with the constellations of the zodiac.

2014 // WOOD&WOOL capsule exhibition // Porcelain collection
The one thing that the patterns she creates have in common are the lines. She has always been attracted by lines, simple lines or more complex ones. What she finds fascinating about them is how they intersect forming different nodes and webs of lines, somehow like a constellation, a constellation of her imagination.

She likes to believe that these constellations already exist at a different scale, that she reproduces an existing pattern, as if everything is repeating at a micro or maybe macro level creating continuity and stating existence, our existence.
