Dacia Design Center

Dacia Design Center is the only design center in Central and Eastern Europe integrated into the global network of design centers of Renault Group.

Dacia Design Center develops activities including design quality and surface modelling (Class A surfaces). A team of 32 employees, of three different nationalities, works there, and its mission is to become the showcase of the design strategy of the Dacia brand.

“Dacia focuses on the essential. We respect our promise of affordability and simplicity in order to offer the best value for money on the market. Dacia cars are spacious, practical, modular, and functional, designed to stand the test of time and to support off-road adventures, regardless of road conditions. We focus on what is essential, use fewer resources, select durable materials, and build lighter, more fuel-efficient cars.”

Dacia international portfolio includes models such as Dacia Duster, Dacia Bigster, Dacia Sandero, Dacia Sandero Stepway, Dacia Jogger, and Dacia Spring, all marketed on international markets.

Between 2024 and 2025, the brand’s models received several international distinctions. Dacia Bigster was awarded “Best Accessible SUV” by German Car of the Year 2025 and “Family Car of the Year” at The News UK Motor Awards 2025.

Meanwhile, Dacia Duster received “Innovation of the Year” at the Gala des Trophées Argus 2025, “Best Value Car 2025” at the Autocar Awards, and “Best Buy Car of Europe 2025” awarded by AutoBest Awards.

Dacia Duster

Dacia Duster, now in its third generation, continues the success story of a model that has become a true emblem of the brand and its core values.

The model retains all the aesthetic qualities that contributed to the success of previous generations, especially its robust appearance, but elevates them to a higher level. The design team began by working from simple volumes: the cabin, the engine hood, and the shape of the wings, then assembled these elements into a coherent whole, resulting in a modern style with clean planes and well-defined forms.

The simplicity of shapes and volumes is reflected in every detail of the design.

"At the end of the 1990s, after lengthy negotiations, a new agreement was concluded between Dacia and Renault Group, marking the first international launch of the Dacia brand. The contract was signed in Bucharest on July 2, 1999, and provided for the industrialization under the Dacia brand, by around 2004, of a vehicle priced at approximately 6,000 dollars (the future Logan), intended for emerging markets. The first derivative model of the Logan range was presented in March 2006 at the Geneva Motor Show."

"In 2025, Dacia rose to second place on the European podium for sales to private customers, with a market share of 7.9%. These results were supported by the brand’s five key models. Dacia Duster recorded 193,974 units sold worldwide in 2025, making it the second best-selling SUV among private customers in Europe. Since its launch in 2010, more than 2.8 million Duster vehicles have been registered."

"The local Dacia Design Center team is composed of approximately 70% Romanian employees, and the studio is located in Bucharest, so Romanian influence is present from the very first design sketches through to engineering. The context in which the Dacia brand was born is Eastern European—a developing region whose neighboring countries share similar conditions. From the beginning, Dacia has addressed a customer looking for the essential in a car: a robust vehicle with smart design and features, low fuel consumption, and easy maintenance. All these attributes are part of the brand’s DNA and have been shaped by its local specificity."
