Ancuta Sarca

Ancuța Sarca is an innovative voice in the footwear industry, reinterpreting shoes in a more sustainable direction.

Her distinctive creations—hybrid forms between sneakers and heels—explore contrasts between masculine and feminine, vintage and modern, sport and luxury. Through a sustainability-oriented approach, Ancuța Sarca proposes a nonconformist yet feminine perspective on traditional sneakers, placing environmental responsibility at the core of her practice, with innovation as its main driver.

The Ancuța Sarca brand debuted in 2019 at London Fashion Week, with support from Fashion East and BFC NEWGEN.

Internationally recognized, Ancuța Sarca received the FNAA Emerging Talent Award 2023 and has been featured in leading publications such as Vogue, Dazed, i-D, and The Face. The brand has also attracted attention from global figures including Kim Kardashian, Rihanna, Bella Hadid, Cher, and Dua Lipa.

Ancuța Sarca has consolidated its international presence through consistent participation in presentations at London Fashion Week and showroom presentations at Paris Fashion Week (2019–2026).

During the same period, the brand developed collaborations with global names such as Nike, Vans, Crocs, SKIMS, Clarks, Lee Jeans, Dion Lee, and On, as well as a long-term partnership with Nike (2019–2023) and support from the British Fashion Council – NEWGEN (2022–2025).

“Beetle Clog” – Spring/Summer 2023

“Teddy” Boot – Autumn/Winter 2024: the “Teddy” Boot is a sneaker-style boot made through upcycling, featuring inserts of faux fur.

"I believe that, involuntarily, my brand carries a personal imprint, having been conceived from the very beginning out of the desire to create products that I myself would want to wear. From an artistic perspective, the process of upcycling and working with existing pieces — passing them through my own creative filter and reinterpreting them — reflects the way I have developed as a designer in Romania."

"My creative process is grounded in the principles of sustainability and circular design, which involves integrating, as much as possible, existing materials and deadstock inventories into the design and production stages. I consider this approach to have become an essential component of the brand’s identity from the very beginning, especially in the context of the fashion industry’s significant environmental impact."

"Each appearance in major media outlets has certainly not only helped position the brand as a global luxury brand, but has also personally given me more motivation and ambition to continue what I do — for example, through figures such as Bella Hadid, Cher, and Kim Kardashian."

"If I were to think about what I would like next, I believe I am drawn to projects that further develop the idea of interdisciplinary collaboration. I would also like to expand the conceptual dimension of the brand and create contexts in which the products are presented beyond the traditional format of fashion. I feel there is still a lot of room for growth and experimentation, and that is the most interesting part."
