HISTORY
Laura Leonte is founder and doodles curator at CompulsiveDrawer - the digital platform of the free drawers, that encourages people to express themselves by drawing, regardless of the level of their artistic skills. She believes that we could all use an outlet for the bottled creativity that stays latent within every one of us, as she is convinced we are all creative.

ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES

2016 // Block for Drawing (Laura Leonte & Dan Crețu)
Context: In May 2015, a graphical interpretation of the biblical scene of Saint George slaying the dragon becomes news after it is wiped off the wall it occupied only days after its completion.
The reason why the work has been covered was intensely debated being considered an attack to the liberty of expression.
Profoundly involved in the event, artist Dan Crețu conceives the sketchbook "Block for Drawing" and picks CompulsiveDrawer - the community of free drawers - as partner in producing the object. The sketchbook and its blank sheets have the form of the wiped off wall which became a symbol of the freedom of expression. This way the artist using the sketchbook is even more aware of the importance of the artistic act they develop.

2016 // The Good Book for Coloring
The Good Book for Coloring is a concept coloring book co-authored by dozens of compulsive drawers.
The Good Book for Coloring is an act. It performs equally on the authors and on the users. The authors are given boundless freedom of expression which dares their creativity and self-confidence. The colorers are challenged with an unexpected collection of styles and drawings. Ultimately they become authors themselves as the final pages of the book are empty.
