ROMANIAN DESIGN WEEK APPEARANCES

2018 // Vasile Rață, artist catalog / book design
The Vasile Rață artist album was launched in march 2017 on the occasion of author's exhibition. The book concept reveals the artist two-fold attitude: both ironic and rational, cool and emotional. Thus, Factum Design used a varied layout, combining details with entire objects or sets of objects' representations. Due to the artist's approach with the materiality of the metal, the creative team have opted for metallic covers for a limited number of copies, while the remaining part of the edition has the covers printed on silver folio.

The design of the book emphasizes the main feature of the artist's work: a kind of roughness and a spirit of craft. This is why the team did not opted for a refined binding and proposed to emboss the author's name on the first cover, suggesting the artist's craft skills. Thus the letters are engraved by the author himself. For this reason every cover is unique. To underline the craft feature, it was used Fresco typeface for its "crafted" details.
